Last night The Lampshades opened for an amazing night of awareness and rock and roll. Henry Rollins recruited Slipknot and Stone Sour‘s Corey Taylor, Anthrax Scott Ian, Slayer‘s Dave Lombardo, Jane’s Addiction Dave Navarro,members of Rob Zombie‘s band, for a benefit concert @ the Avalon in Hollywood. Artist Shepard Fairey, who designed the exclusive poster for the event, will DJ the show, and Kate Flannery of ‘The Office’ & Scot Robinson will perform a comedy routine with lounge spoof the Lampshades. All proceeds from the show will go to Drop In the Bucketprofit organization that constructs water wells and sanitation systems at large rural schools in sub-Saharan Africa. Excuse me while I pick up that name I dropped. While we just had special guest Creed Bratton from THE OFFICE on stage with us, the Lampshades’ audience is as exciting as our shows! Last month,it was PEE WEE! And before that, my friend, GLEE actress Romy Rosemont brought her friend DOT JONES aka THE BEAST from GLEE! She’s taller and nicer than she is on TV! Our old friend, MODERN FAMILY’S ERIC STONESTREET (he’s taller and nicer than he looks on TV, too!)He’s been to our show many times. Also PARKS AND REC’s NICK OFFERMAN and his WILL & GRACE real life wife MEGAN MULLALLY came to see us.They are so adorable. (nice but not tall)And of course, ANDY DICK was forceable removed from our show last year for laughing too hard and yelling, “I CAN”T TAKE IT. THEY ARE SOOO FUNNY!” High on laughter??

Thanks to all who made it out to Ed Helm’s Whiskey Sour Radio Hour at LARGO in LA. The lampshades got to kick off both shows before Ed’s amazing blue grass band- the most talented musicians- the LONESOME TRIO with Ed on banjo and secret special guest, Will Ferrell! It was all things OFFICE! Andy, Diego and Meredith – sort of. An amazing star stuck crowd, too. (The Hangover’s Ken Jong sat in the audience) Thanks to all the Office crew for showing up.Thanks to the fans who came out to share the love. It was an honor to be a part of this talented bunch. Scot and Kate had a ball.

I had such a blast doing the show! Thanks to all who trapest thru the snow and Christmas and new years’ CROWDS.

It really was kinda like “This is your life” (an old TV show from the 1950′s where people had a forced on stage reunion with family and friends) (Wait– that doesn’t sound so good) I am so grateful for all the support.

Broadway fans, fyi. We had some great talent come see the show– Donna McKecknie from the original cast of A CHORUS LINE – (God, I hope she got it!) Celeste Holm, the Academy Award winning actress who also starred in Rogers and Hammerstien’s CINDERELLA. Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara– the hippest couple over 70! The great Alan Alda of MASH and a million other things. And of corse, my co-stars, Didi Conn, Mary Testa, Brenda Braxton, and Loretta Swit.

I am the luckiest person I know. What a great way to ring in the new year!

Wizards of Waverly Place guest stars the Lampshades!

The answer is YES! Selena Gomez is awesome. The Wizards of Waverly Plance episode entitled Wizards vs, Finkels aired this summer and continues to air (about 75 times) on Disney Channel. Scot and I had such a great experience playing Harper’s mom and dad on Wizards. Jennifer Stone is adorable! David and Jake, sweet as hell. I met Jenn last year at a charity softball game. Oh, she’s got game. When I met her I thought she looked a little like my niece. How funny that a year later I would play her mom! Life is crazy. Showbiz is ridiculous! Thanks to show runner, Peter Murrietta, who is a Lmapshades friend and fan (we’ve known Peter since 1989 during our Chicago Second City days) we got to do the show. He thought it made perfect sense that a weird version of the Lampshades would work as Harper’s “always out of town” parents. What a blast! God Bless Peter Murietta. What a smart kids show. Beware– our characters are wayyy more possitive than our the SHADES. No booze and no camel toe! Oh- and we are called Marty and Elaine. Sorry Dresden act! Let us know what your kids think.

Ardmore native “Office” actress Kate Flannery hung out with Butch Patrick, aka Eddie Munster, and comedian Doug Benson at her family’s bar T.A. Flannery’s (11 S. 21st) Wednesday night while she was here to play Helium (2031 Sansom). Benson is performing at the club this weekend. Flannery, who plays Meredith on the hit series, was also seen in a Phillies cap having breakfast at the Reading Terminal Market’s Down Home Diner.

NBC’s The Office has almost nothing to do with the Lampshades except for KATE FLANNERY.

Season 7 of the Office already!! Can you believe it ? Season 6 is out on DVD at NBC.com and Amazon.com. Hi, !I am Kate Flannery and I do play Meredith, the drunken, accident prone tart on The Office. I created my Lampshades character years before Meredith was invented. I was still working in a restaurant in Beverly Hills and I had been doing the Lampshades for about 5 years when I got the job on the American version of the British favorite that felt like it could not be duplicated by some dumb American cast. Sure, I had high hopes, but low expectations of the Office at first. I did finally quit my restaurant job right before the second season. A tough decision. My slightly stained white apron pocket was a perfect fit for my Lampshades postcards which sometimes went down with the check on to the table of an influential person. I did begin to wait on the exec producer and a few directors of the Office, the Lampshades gig on the tip of my toungue along with the freshly memorized daily specials.

What do we have in common? Well. we both have red hair and we have a boozy, sleezy somewhat twisted, sexy quality to us. But Meredith is right handed and works with Steve Carell (for now anyway) will Kassie Chew is left handed and works with the scotch soaked, chain smoking Hori Pismo aka Scot Robinson. The Office is shot like a movie and the lampshades is a live show with a clapping laughing drinking crowd. The Office, you can turn off. The Lampshades is in your face. (it requires cardio to go and get up and leave the show! Meredith dresses like a color blind kindergarten teacher and my lampshades character wears a red polyester jumpsuit with a camel toe that does not exist in the desert.

And I LOVE doing both shows. I am the luckiest sleaze bag I know (and I know a lot of sleaze bags) It’s great to do both shows. Life is short and I am going to live ’til I die. That’s all folks.

(For the past five years we have had the honor of having the winners of the Lampshades look-a-like contest on stage with us a few times a year. We sometimes refer to them as the Lil’ Lampshades. Lily and Liam Larson are not a couple. They are brother and sister and their mom has been dressing them up like Kassie and Hori since they were 5 and 4 years old. Check out their growth in size and style. Adorable Liam has really perfected the drunken stare. And beautiful, little Lily sorta looks like Jon Bennet on crack.)
